Genesis 3:1-13
Many of you already know that our daughter Kim fell Sunday at a local Giant Food Store slipping on a yet floor. She did seriously injure herself. Bruised sprained hip, and a broken thumb that also separated from her hand. That is the seriousness of the injuries her thumb.
God is so good all the time. From this new challenge to our family the Lord has spoken to me about the simple word fear. With much of the work Kim does caring for her grandmother and caring for our home, fear began to settle on our hearts. What will we do? Today I would like to share with you the reader what God gave me.
Fear starts as it did with Adam and Eve with the development of a Fainthearted understanding of a situation. The lack of strength, it is a time when the heart becomes weak. The courage that comes from our heart is attacked. Then our Emotions take over. Painful and agitated mind no longer calm and our actions and our thinking becomes abnormal. This becomes the birth of our Anxiety. Our minds become overwhelmed and the painful uneasy thinking of circumstances and events remains a part of our life journey. This could be for a short period of time or a long period of time. When anxiety sets in we often Retreat. Actually it is here we withdrawal from the Lord.
The scripture this morning speaks to this series of events in the life of Adam and Eve. Things were going good, God had them thinking and walking with Him, and that cunning deceitful yet skillful serpent, the world to you and I, shows up and talks trash. The world, the serpent in this case, often demonstrates to our eyes a pleasant condition when we do things that are in disobedience to the Lord. When we do, it is here fear begins to take root in the life of the believer. It did for Adam and Eve. They fell to the serpent’s deceit and fear entered into their lives, Gen. 3:10 “I was afraid”. Adams words. The fear experienced by Adam and Eve caused them to retreat, to withdrawal from God, Gen. 3:8 they hid themselves from the presence of the Lord. This is what fear normally forces us to do. Instead when those times come into our lives and fear works it's way in, draw closer to the Lord. Remember it was the deception of Satan that caused Adam and Eve to sin which put fear in their heart and eventually withdrawal for God. James 4:7-8 if we resist the devil he will flee from us and we will draw closer to the Lord. Think what would of happened if Eve resisted the devil.
As I began Sunday evening to allow fear into my life, what will we do if Kim broke her hip? Even after the news of her hand the fear of what will we do now? Satan working hard to deceive us, then I stopped submitted to God my heart, trust and obey for there is not other way to be happy in Jesus, the devil departed from my thoughts and I began to draw closer to the Lord.
More on Fear will follow in the weeks to come. Trust in the Lord with all your heart today and fear will flee. Pray for Kimmie. Pastor Ron |
