Ephesians 4:31-32

One of the biggest problems in our society today is our ability and willingness to communicate correctly.  This is for me as much as it is for the reader.  We are often ready to open our mouth and not realize what is about to come out.  Sunday our associate Pastor did an excellent presentation on the tongue and how it can be the most hurtful weapon available to us.  Used at anytime any place without thinking.

Today the Lord continued to speak to me about this matter as I counseled with a family as well as spent time in His Word.  HE is quite clear about how bitter talk, piercing, painful words, sharp like a knife cutting to the heart, loud angry voices, with a tone of threatening God says put away this type of talk.  Putting it away certainly gives one the impression we have the ability to speak with wicked intentions.  So as for me and my house we will do as the Lord has spoken in Ephesians 4:31 and put this type of communications away.  Praying diligently, to never take it out again, working hard to always be kind to one another with a caring and tender heart.  Forgiving over and over and over again, never keeping  a record of those who hurt us, simply forgiving them as God has, does and will always forgive us.  If this becomes more of a normal communications skill, families will be enriched with the God kind of love that we miss so often.  Employer and employee relations will improve and that effects productivity.  Customer relation feedback would be surprisingly on the high end of the scale which does well for business.  I believe this would even effect our educational system, students would respect teachers, teachers would respect parents and, well who knows how that could effect our society.  Yes many would say to me, this is wishful thinking.  I say, if God said it that settles it, now it is up to us to apply it to our lives, and with my God there is nothing impossible.  It starts with you and I saying yes Lord, I put all this negative harmful communications away and begin today to be more like you and less like myself.  Let it start by being our prayer.

Have a blessed day, I pray for all those who maybe reading this blog that God supply all of your needs this day, in Jesus name amen.

2 Timothy 1:7 "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind."

What a great message from the Lord for all of us as we take our pilgrims journey in life.  Sorry I have missed the last couple of Tuesday blogs.  If you did not know I fell at church and was back in the hospital for a couple of days.  Doing fine, all is well, small set back for my back recovery.

The scripture for this morning fits well with me as I could have feared that the fall was going to really cause me damage.  With that said, we simply called on the power of the Lord, the love of the many church family and the sound mind as we made decisions on what to do. You see that is important for us all to understand God's Power, here is how it breaks down.

P=Pray everyday 1 Thessalonians 5:17

O=obey God in all things Acts 5:29

W=witness never be ashamed Romans 1:16

E=engage in the local Church Hebrews 10:24-25

R=read the scriptures 2 Timothy 3:16-17

That is power, the only power that gives us the ability to love those who hate us, and to have the ability to take our pilgrims journey in life with a Godly sound mind.  Having knowledge with the ability to apply that knowledge, wisdom, doing what pleases the Lord.

So today as you take your journey, even with those who may have hurt you, call on the power of God and do not be conformed to this world's thinking but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:1)

Praying this is helpful to someone like it has been for me.  Jesus loves you and so do we at Open Door Community Church.

Hope to write more next week.  Pray that the Lord lead you to visit us here at 565 White Oak Road, Fredericksburg VA.  We are a church who doesn't have it all right we make mistakes, but we certainly have a love for the Lord Jesus Christ.
