2 Timothy 1:9 "who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began," A letter from a mentor who is in prison. That is where Paul writes to Timothy a letter to encourage Timothy. As we begin this new year Christians should reflect on where you have been and where you see God taking you on this journey in life. Often we will face attacks of the world. When we face such things as the health challenges, finances in trouble, a relationship going bad, maybe a job promotion you feel should be yours yet it was given to someone else, honestly think of those who have recently lost their job. And then you hear about a little child a beautiful child stops breathing, mom and dad suffering through such a moment. Just one brick wall after another and it seems as all the work you put into the day and a brick wall stops you dead in your tracks. Paul reminds us God has saved us first and most important. If you have heard Romans 10:13 or read it yourself you know what it means to be saved. That salvation experiance is being saved from God's judgement not the trouble of the world that we all face. God has saved those who He has called and those who have answered the call. It is like when the telephone rings if we don't answer it, then we don't know who or why the call was made. God is calling people to come to repentence so they may be saved from the judgement we all deserve due to the sin in our lives. There is nothing anyone of us can do to work or attempt to earn a place with God. It is all according to His purpose and the grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus. So to conclude, if we understand that as a Christian we are saved by God, called to serve by God and it is not anything we do and everythiing He does according to His purpose for our lives. So when you hear I got your back, put your trust in the Lord the one who has saved you and called you, if what you do is centered around His purpose for your life, know that Jesus Christ has your back always.
